Rules


1. Films must be no longer than 30 minutes. (Incomplete 'in progress' films are also submittable. Entries may also be in the form of short segments or promotional trailers of longer works.)
2. Story genres accepted are Horror, Sci-Fi, or fantasy. Films may be live action, animated or experimental.
3. Story and characters must be original or an adaptation of a work in the public domain.
4. Rights to music (if used) must be the property of the filmmaker.
5. Filmmakers are responsible for all legal releases (actors, locations, etc.)
6. Entries can be shot on any format (video or film), but must be submitted on DVD or VHS tape.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Each film must be accompanied by a completed entry form which can be printed from our Submissions Page. All entries must be submitted either on a standard VHS videocassette (NTSC format), a DVD, or DVD-R. Please ensure that all films are complete and working before submitting. There is no limit to the number of submissions per entrant.
There is no entry fee for submissions.

SHIPPING
Cost of shipping to the SHSFS is the sole responsibility of the entrant. Exhibition copies must be sent to the competition prepaid. All DVDs, videotapes and cases must be labeled with the title of the entry. The showcase cannot accept responsibility for damage or loss of materials while in transit. All submitted entries are nonreturnable, and become the property of the SHSFS. If an entrant requests the return of material, full postage
must be included with the original submission.
