- Cleaning Instructions
- Cleaning the fur suits, hands
and spat feet.
- The fur suits are machine washable.
Wash in cold or warm water(not hot) with any standard detergent
and use any brand fabric softener in the
- rinse cycle. You can use any pre-spotting
cleaner for really dirty areas,
- or food stains. The secret is
in the drying cycle. You must dry them on
- the Air Only cycle in your dryer.
Any heat at all will shrink, and mat
- the fur, and ruin your costume.
After allowing your suit to dry in the
- air only cycle, hang it up in
a warm dry room to allow it to finish
- drying over night. The suits can
be dry cleaned, but cannot be allowed
- to go through the heat cycle in
the dry cleaning machine. We suggest washing them, over dry cleaning.
Spat feet cannot be dry cleaned.
- The Naugahyde will harden and
crack.
- Cleaning the Deluxe Feet.
- Like Tennis shoes, they can be
cleaned in the washer, using the same method as above. They will
take several days to air dry. Do not
- dry clean. Cleaning the foam support
vest. The foam support vest can
- be washed as above, and can be
dried on low heat, in your dryer.
- Cleaning the clothing
- We strive to make most all of
the clothing for mascots machine
- washable. We will notify you if
your clothing must me dry cleaned.
- If in doubt, please feel free
to contact us.
- Cleaning the Heads.
- Brush your head regularly with
a common pet brush. The kind
- that has the tiny wire bristles
used in brushing most pets, and dogs.
- This removes any loose dirt and
will make the fur all lay in one direction again. It will make
your head look like new. Your head will rarely need cleaning
if you take care of it and try not to allow it to become soiled.
- Most heads will never need entirely
cleaned. You can spot clean them using any detergent, and a wash
cloth. A spray carpet cleaner works
- very well for spot cleaning. If
the head needs cleaned entirely, you
- can ship it to us for cleaning
or follow these instructions.
- First dampen the head with a spray
shampoo nozzle in a large sink or bathtub. Use a dish washing
detergent diluted in water or a powdered detergent diluted in
water or the spray carpet cleaner. Dip a brush
- into the detergent and brush the
head working up a lather all over the entire surface. After brushing
the entire surface of the head, rinse all
- the detergent from the head using
the spray shampoo nozzle.
- Important! After rinsing the head clean you must vacuum all
of the
- water you possibly can from the
head using a wet/dry vacuum cleaner.
- Use the vacuum hose only with
no attachments. After you feel most of the water has been removed,
you should place the head in a warm, dry area
- to finish drying. Near a heating
duct or radiator is ideal. Outside in
- sun is also ideal. Allow it to
dry overnight, and then brush with your
- pet brush to make it look as good
as new. Never completely submerge
- the head in water. Allowing it
to remain soaking wet can separate the layers of paper mache'
and ruin your mascot head A slight softening of
- the shell is normal, and should
harden after drying. Normally if this
- occurs it is around the neck opening.
It is best if you can prop the head
- up or place it over a tall thin
object, like a piece of plumbing pipe or umbrella stand while
drying. This way air can circulate into the head
- and dry any interior dampness.
- If you have any questions please
feel free to contact us.
